Assassinations in Mozambique were driven by political motives. This driver is mainly justified by the context of power struggles between the main parties in the country, RENAMO and FRELIMO. In fact, most of the cases took place in 2019, during the presidential, legislative and provincial electoral period. The political competition is also reflected in the main target group in the country: politics and governance.
